Boot Scootin' Boogie...

Howdy!

It seems the theme of this weekend was country! So dust off that plaid shirt, get on your hat, and pull up your boots because people going for rides...on bulls, moseying over to a legit country bar to witness some crazy dance moves, and using the good ole outhouse. So to start, I was not aware of this unground country scene in Anchorage and to be honest, I would have probably liked to avoid it. But I didn't and it actually turned out to be quite fascinating. To start off the weekend right, as usual, the mechanical bull was ridden. Then on our way to Talkeetna (a small town north of Anchorage) the next day, we ran into this...literally, we had to pee!

But the main event for the weekend was this bar we went to for country dancing. So in preparation, I busted out a plaid shirt, Kathryn had her boots and cowboy hat rockin', and Ashley had hair that rivaled Dolly Parton's.
When we arrived, what we saw was something like this (and sorry for the poor quality, my phone and a dark bar do not get along).

These people were amazing. Let me tell you...they can dance! I have never seen boots move that way! They made Boot Scootin' Boogie look like child's play!
So to finish our themed weekend, we went to see Cowboys and Aliens and well, hello Daniel Craig. You might have said one word in the entire movie, but your attitude (and body) said it all.

So while I hate country with a burning passion, I will say the bar was fun. I tried today to listen to some Zac Brown Band and let's say it wasn't before long that Kanye made his appearance.

On the bright side, Happy Birthday to my dear friend Molly Ticknor who turned the big 25 on Saturday!
And to Miss Kathleen Phelps, you missed out on my one and only country experience...but can't wait for your butt to get up here!!!!
